First public release of VV for Apple silicon Macs.
New
- On-device dictation: hold the shortcut to talk, double-tap for hands-free. Recognition runs on the Mac; nothing you say is uploaded.
- Vocabulary with spoken forms, so names and jargon come out the way you write them.
- Snippets: a spoken trigger expands into text you use often.
- Transforms with local-first providers (Apple Intelligence or a local Ollama model by default; a cloud provider only if you configure one).
- Insights: local statistics about how much you dictate and where.
- Searchable history with audio playback, stored on the Mac with a retention period you control in Settings.
- Onboarding with a practice step, so the shortcut and permissions are set up before you dictate for real.
- Accounts and plans: Free (1,000 words a week, no sign-in), Pro monthly or annual, Founder and Pro Lifetime.
- Signed with a Developer ID certificate issued to Vaitly Limited and notarised by Apple.
- A branded installer: open the disk image and drag VV to Applications.
Security
- Hardened runtime enabled; the build is notarised by Apple and verified by macOS on first launch.
- No in-app updater yet. Updates are downloaded from this site; see “How to update” below.
Known issues
- Windows is not yet available.
- Intel Macs are not supported; VV needs an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or later).
- Some Bluetooth earbuds can clip the first syllable while the microphone wakes up. Pause briefly after pressing the shortcut, or use the Mac’s built-in microphone.
